Engineering

The A319 takes the short fields and steep approaches, the A320 flies the bulk of the schedule, the A321 brings capacity to the densest routes. All seven in the VELA livery — signet in Heritage Gold on the tail, inside the starfield.

How we fly

Run like a real airline.

Real dispatch

Every leg departs with a SimBrief OFP and an operational release from VELA dispatch — fuel, weather and performance included.

vIFM flight bag

Our own iPad EFB carries your briefing, weather, navlog and ACARS into the cockpit — and closes the flight when you shut down.

Crew rostering

Monthly lines, trip bids and standby duties built from real crew pairings — you fly a roster, not a random route board.

Living fleet

Each tail logs hours and cycles, carries a techlog with MEL items and goes through maintenance — engineering is part of the game.

Training & checks

Web-based trainings, an entry knowledge test and check flights keep standards high — from application to command upgrade.

One ecosystem

Intranet, vIFM, vOPS cabin app and the engineering app all speak to one platform — one source of truth for the whole operation.

Careers

From application to the flight deck.

Two seats, one standard. Bring a study-level Airbus, VATSIM discipline and the will to fly it properly — we bring the airline around it.

01
Apply online

Tell us who you are and what you fly. A study-level A320 — Fenix, ToLiss or FlyByWire — is the required equipment.

02
Entry knowledge test

A short screening on A320 basics, procedures and VATSIM phraseology — passed from home, at your pace.

03
Check flight

One rated leg with a VELA examiner: SOPs, flows and a stabilized approach per FCOM.

04
Fly the line

Your callsign, your roster. Monthly lines, trip bids and a crew that flies the plan.

The standard

Flight standards & house rules.

We fly like a real operation — and treat each other like a good crew. These are the essentials; the full Rules & Directives (RAD) live on the platform.

Respect · Realism · Reliability · Real life first.Family, work and health always come before VELA — nobody is pressured to fly or be online.
Flight standards
01Fly by the bookSOPs, flows and stabilized approaches per FCOM — we fly the A320 the way it is flown in the real world.
02Every leg is dispatchedNo flight without a SimBrief OFP and an operational release from dispatch. You fly the plan you were released on.
03Fly your rosterYou bid for trips, fly your assigned rotations and report absences early — the crew plan depends on you.
04VATSIM standardsThe VATSIM Code of Conduct applies at all times, with clean ICAO phraseology on every frequency.
05Study-level onlyThe A320 family in a study-level rendition — Fenix, ToLiss or FlyByWire — is the required equipment.
06Close every flightEvery leg ends with a PIREP: fuel, times and remarks filed through vIFM into the flight archive.
VELA house rules
01Respect the crew.Courtesy to everyone, whatever their rank, experience or background. No harassment, discrimination, hate speech or personal attacks.
02Keep the tone constructive.Criticism addresses the matter, never the person. Newcomers are welcome — there are no stupid questions. No sarcasm at others’ expense, no public pile-ons.
03Right channel, right topic.Operational channels stay on-topic; banter goes in #off-topic. Politics and religion are off-topic here. No recording voice chats without consent.
04Fly honest. No falsified flight data, OOOI times or logbook hours — on the platform or the network. Honest mistakes are never punished; only hiding them is.
05Represent VELA well.Under a VELA callsign on VATSIM: prepared, professional and courteous — especially when things go wrong.
06No piracy. No pirated or cracked sims, aircraft, scenery or navdata — and no “just asking where to find it.”
07Keep internal content internal.Manuals, briefings, liveries and platform data stay within VELA. Screenshots are fine as long as no credentials or others’ personal data are visible.
08Your account is yours. One person, one account. Never share your credentials.

Staff moderate to keep this space good; their call stands in the moment, with the complaint path open afterwards. Breaking these runs from a friendly word up to suspension or removal (RAD §9). By being here, you agree to the RAD. Welcome aboard.
