VELA guests can now choose their seat online and receive their boarding pass straight away. The whole process runs in the browser, on a phone as well as on a computer. No app and no account are needed.

Three steps to your seat

  • Find your flight in the flight search on the homepage and select the departure you want.
  • Choose your travel date and pick a seat on the seat map. Seats that are already taken are marked.
  • Enter the name for the boarding pass and confirm. The boarding pass opens immediately.

The seat map

The seat map shows the cabin of the aircraft type scheduled for the flight: Airbus A319, A320 or A321. The front rows are Business, where the middle seat stays free. Behind them, Economy is arranged in rows of three seats either side of the aisle, lettered A to F. Exit rows, which offer extra legroom, are marked on the map, and a counter shows how many seats are still available on the departure.

Seats can be chosen for the next eight departures of a flight.

The boarding pass

The boarding pass shows the flight number, date, seat, gate, boarding time, departure and arrival times, aircraft type and booking reference. Boarding begins 30 minutes before departure. The pass carries a QR code and has its own web address, so it can be reopened at any time or saved as a bookmark on the phone.

Support for Apple Wallet is in preparation. Once it is available, the boarding pass can be added to the Wallet from the same page.

“Choosing a seat should take a minute, not a form with ten fields. We ask for the date, the seat and a name. That is all.”

VELA Guest Services

One note for clarity: VELA is a virtual airline. The boarding pass is not a travel document and is not valid at an airport.
