Seven city routes from Zurich now have at least twelve VELA flights a week in each direction. Florence leads the timetable with 16 weekly flights, followed by Cologne and Dresden with 14 each. Bilbao, Bologna, Leipzig and Turin are each served 12 times a week.

Two flights a day
Cologne and Dresden have two flights on every day of the week. Florence has at least two a day and a third on Mondays and Wednesdays. Bilbao, Bologna, Leipzig and Turin are flown twice a day from Monday to Friday and once a day at the weekend. All seven routes are operated by the Airbus A320. Together they account for 92 departures from Zurich every week.
Short trips, planned around the timetable
On some of these routes the timetable allows a short stay. On Tuesdays and Fridays, the 06:30 flight to Bilbao arrives at 08:15 and a return flight leaves at 13:55: enough time for a morning meeting before flying home the same day.
Evening departures at 17:45 serve Dresden and Turin on Mondays and Leipzig on Tuesdays and Thursdays, each with a return flight at 09:40 the next morning. Travellers starting in Turin can make a day trip to Zurich on Tuesdays: the morning flight lands at 10:50, and the flights back leave at 16:15 and 16:30.
“On short city routes, frequency matters more than anything else. Florence has 16 flights a week, and Cologne and Dresden have two every day.”
Departure times vary by day of the week. The timetable lists every flight with its days of operation and local times, and each departure can be selected directly in the flight search.
